Wednesday June 1st

Flew into Newark NJ today and got to see Keriann and her friend Brian, it was so good to see a familiar face before I set off on my new adventure. After leaving the airport we picked up three girls, and a guy who works maintenance and stuff. The girls were from England, New Zealand, and Australia. There are several other girls here from Jersey, and the UK as well. The other girls are all very nice and we spent the two-hour trip from Jersey chatting about the camp and the different words we all use for everyday things. Like flip-flops being called jandals, and saddle pads being called numnus(sp). It was great meeting them all. Then we arrived at IRC, and we were all a little surprised at the size and the upkeep of the place, not exactly what any of us were expecting but we have decided to make the best of it. The girl in charge of the riding program Kim, is really nice and I def enjoy working with her. We had a brief meeting about camp and our schedule for the next day as we finished up dinner under the big white tent. Yes, we eat every meal under a tent. After finally getting unpacked we all crashed early for the night since most of the girls were really jet-lagged. To say the least, it was an interesting day.
